Civic Award Scheme

Objectives of the scheme

• To promote and encourage community pride

• To encourage support for local initiatives which aim to benefit the community

• To recognise, celebrate and reward individual and collective commitment to improve our village

 

Nominations
Nominations will be invited from anyone who lives in Hartford Parish and must be submitted to Hartford Civic Society for consideration. An application form is available from Hartford Civic Society (download here) and all applications must include a detailed explanation to support the nomination.
 

Award categories

• Individual awards will be made to individuals who have worked to improve the village of Hartford and/or for the benefit of the Hartford community

• Young person’s awards will be made to individuals, under the age of 16, who have worked to improve the village of Hartford and/or for the benefit of the Hartford community

• Community awards will be made to community groups or organisations, which have worked to improve the village of Hartford and/or for the benefit of the Hartford community

• Business awards will be made to businesses which have supported Hartford Civic Society’s efforts to “make Hartford an even better place”

• Business awards will be made to businesses which have engaged with the Hartford community, to the benefit of the village.

Nominations may be accepted for individuals, businesses and groups that are not Hartford-based, but are able to
demonstrate their commitment to improving the Hartford community.
 

Exemptions
The following individuals are exempt from nomination:

• Serving members of Hartford Parish Council

• Serving members of Northwich Town Council

• Serving members of Chester West and Cheshire Council

• Serving Trustees of Hartford Civic Society

 

Decision making
Nominations will be considered by a panel of Hartford Civic Society Trustees. In addition:

• A representative from Hartford Parish Council will also be invited to join the panel.

• A representative of any award category sponsors will be invited to join the panel.

 

Award presentation
Civic Awards will comprise a framed certificate and a Hartford Civic Society window sticker. Presentations will be
made by Trustees of Hartford Civic Society. Hartford Civic Society would welcome the offer of prizes or rewards from local businesses. If you would like to support the initiative, in some small way, please email our Trustees.
