The purpose of the Lottery . . .

To help raise money for the Hartford Civic Society.

The 2025/26 Lottery generated £1,416, of which £720 was allocated to prize money and nearly the same amount is for spending on public benefit projects within the village. Around 2% is allocated to running costs, mostly registration fees.

It is a ‘Small Society Lottery’ registered with our local authority (Cheshire West and Chester), to whom we pay a £20 annual renewal fee and to whom we send annual returns.

The Lottery funds spending on public benefit projects within the village.

The Lottery lasts for one year, starting in October, and consists of twelve monthly draws. It is run in conjunction with the National Lottery (“Lotto) drawn on the first Wednesday of each month. The Lotto Bonus Ball (Round 1) will determine the winning number.

An annual Lottery Number costs £12. The numbers 1 to 59 inclusive will be used. Each set of 59 numbers comprises a Scheme; there are currently two Schemes (No 42 and 43). If demand for numbers justifies more than two Schemes, consideration will be given to opening a third Scheme. Each Scheme follows the same rules.

There will be a prize of £30 each month for the winning number in each Scheme. Members of each scheme currently have a 1:59 chance of winning one of the two prizes of £30. The remaining £29 in each Scheme will go to the Hartford Civic Society funds.

The Lottery Promoter will allocate numbers to new players from those which become available. Players will retain the same number for every draw – including subsequent years if remaining a Player. Where a Player pays for more than one number and states a preference to have the same number in Scheme (if more than one Scheme), then the Promoter will try and achieve this.

When a Player has the same number in all Schemes, the number will be called a Golden Number, to reflect that the Player will have multiple winnings, of £30, should that number be drawn.

Players will be expected to pay yearly in advance by Standing Order or Electronic Transfer to Hartford Civic Society (sort code 20-24-09, account number 30896608) or by cheque (see Point 8 of the Lottery Rules for details).

The money will be due one month before the first draw of the new Lottery year (October), in order to allow the Promoter to find and alternative player, in the event the number is relinquished or not paid for.

In the event that a number is drawn where payment is outstanding the winnings will rollover to the next draw.

A list of winning numbers will be available by application to Hartford Civic Society OR will be displayed and updated periodically, on the Hartford Civic Society website.

You must be aged 16 or over to play.
