Hartford Civic Society

Two of Marshall's Arm Local Nature Reserve's most dedicated and long-serving volunteers have been recognised with a Hartford Civic Award. Audrey and Richard Haffenden were presented with their award during a brief break in the volunteer "Marshall's Army" workday.

The Trustees and Supporters of Hartford Civic Society are all deeply saddened by the peaceful yet unexpected passing of Dr John Swaffield. John first became involved with Hartford Civic Society in 2006, acting as a Trustee and Honorary Secretary. Above all, John will perhaps be remembered for his kindness, consideration and wise counsel. He was a great friend and supporter to everyone at Hartford Civic Society and we will miss his reassuring presence.

Hartford Civic Society thoroughly enjoyed surprising Hartford Sole Sisters Run Club founder Hannah George with a Civic Award - ahead of one of the Club's regular runs. The Civic Award recognises Hannah's commitment to the Hartford community, in setting up a safe, friendly and welcoming club to accommodate runners' differing pace and distance preferences.
